An Overview of VEAC Services and Programs

Every year we assist 14,000 families with children and seniors that do not have the resources to keep pace with inflation. They turn to Visalia Emergency Aid Council (VEAC) for a ray of hope as they cope with poverty-driven circumstances. While it's not always possible to fulfill everyone's needs we provide a wide variety of services that support our mission...to promote self sufficiency.

Homeless Prevention
Every year we assist hundreds of families effected by unexpected changes in employment, loss of shelter due to fire, or family emergencies that affect the ability to work.

Food Pantry
Our food pantry, the largest in Tulare County, provides over 1000 families every month with basic nutritional food such as rice, beans, oatmeal, juice products, dairy products, and fresh fruit or vegetables. Qualified families must meet the guidelines based on household income and number of members living in a residence. Basic provisions help alleviate hunger.

Clothing
Through donations from the community to the VEAC Thrift Store on Houston Ave. and West St., we are able to provide the needy with free or reduced cost clothing and household goods like reconditioned refrigerators or gently used furniture.

Low Cost Transportation
VEAC Vehicles Donation program gives the community a way to donate vehicles to our agency in exchange for a tax deduction. Families in need that cannot afford the burden of monthly car payment and have no dependable means of transportation are provided an opportunity to purchase a vehicle well below retail "used car" lot prices.
